: punch bowl

: Tin-glazed earthenware punch bowl. It has sides that round in to a splayed foot rim. It is painted in blue, green, yellow, dark manganese and white on a pale blue-grey glaze. Inside the bowl in the centre in blue is: ' SUCCESS TO The // BRITISH ARMS '. Inside the rim above the inscription are polychrome flowers and leaves and below is an inscription. There is a bianco-sopra-bianco leaf spray with a central flower and scrolls. On the exterior of the bowl there is a chinoiserie landscape including a building, bamboos on a rock, a three-part pagoda, willows on a rock, rocks, a standing figure before a two-panel fence and a sunburst.
