: A plate with a moulded rim: 8 shells alternating with raised oval bosses. Painted in blue, yellow and manganese-purple on a white glaze. In centre, within an octagonal border comprising a thick band between two lines, a male head-and-shoulders portrait wearing a crown over his shoulder-length curled hair painted in manganese; he wears a plain high collar. Identified as James II by the initials 'I R'(manganese) either side of head'.
