: Double-barreled percussion sporting rifle by George Gibbs. Round Damascus twist rifled (2 grooves) barrels of side by side construction with top-rib. 2 ramrod pipes(rear pipe with sling swivel support), and signed 'George Gibbs, 20 Clare Street, Bristol'. Blade foresight and 3 leaf folding rear sight marked 100, 200 & 500. Constructed with an engraved false breech with platinum safety vents. Engraved barrel tang. Stamped with London proof marks and serial number 2781 (1850). Barrel secured to the stock by 1 barrel slide with steel escutcheons. Wooden ramrod with brass tip and end. Walnut half stock with chequered wrist and formed with a cheek rest. Stamped with serial number 2781. Finely engraved iron furniture comprising; butt plate, trigger guard with finger rest, hinged butt trap and forward ramrod pipe. Gold engraved escutcheon and sling swivel support to underside of butt. Double curved triggers Flat engraved right and left hand percussion locks signed George Gibbs, with bolt safeties. Secured to the stock by 1 sidenail. Mahogany case with brass corners, handle catches, hinges and lock. Interior compartments lined with pig skin, some compartments with bone lifters. Some tools present; powder flask, sling, was cutters cleaning rod and jags. G Gibbs trade label in lid.
