: Hinchcliffe collection
: Peter Hinchcliffe served in the diplomatic service and was the British Political officer in the Aden Protectorate when the images in this collection were created in the 1960s. He was there during the Radfan Campaign which was a series of British military actions during the Aden Emergency in 1964, and took place in the mountainous region near the town of Dhala. Hinchcliffe later served in Tanzania and Zambia, where he was High Commissioner from 1990 to 1993. This collection consists of photographs, slides and a VHS videotape showing scenes in the Aden Protectorate including views of Dhala Town, diplomats' housing, an RAF aeroplane unloading, and groups of military officers. The videotape also includes some scenes from Africa.
