: Tin-glazed earthenware jug and cover. Cover engraved with a crown over 'E : H // 1698' within tied leafy branches. The jug is in a baluste form with a plain thick handle tapering in to pointed lower terminal. It has a pewter foot mount and a rim and cover with a ball-shaped thumbpiece fixed around the top of the handle. It is painted in blue on a white glaze (delft): the opposite handle depicts the Crucifixion within a scrolling border; to left is a seated Chinese figure in landscape and to the right is a bowing Chinese figure in landscape. On both the sides are skyscraper-type rocks. There are blue dashes on the handle.
