: 'Glad Colston's Gone' bone china mug. Black illustration on a white background. Text printed on the bottom of the mug reads ‘We’re Glad Colstons Gone! Never Forgive, Never Forget!/ Edward Colston, 1636-1721. Tory MP, bigot and leading official of the Royal African Company, profited from the transatlantic slave trade. Responsible for the deaths of up to 20,000 enslaved Africans. / The Colston Statue was erected in 1895 by a tiny clique of rich white Bristol merchants, who gifted it to the people of Bristol. On 7 June 2020 during a Black Lives Matter protest, the people of Bristol pulled it down and dumped it in the harbour./ Decorated in the Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft’.
