Belt-buckles, brooches, cuff-bottons, tie pin (in original box), bracelet and powder compact reflect the new decorative art style of 1890-1910 which left tradition and embraced natural, often sensual forms. Oriental influence was strong. Commercial firms encouraged the change: most of the silver (some of it with typical enamel) shown here was designed for Liberty & Co., of London, the foremost patron of the Art Nouveau movement in Britain. The tie-pin and the gilded brooch reflect the influence of contemporary medal design.
