Baby doll - Armand Marseille, Germany. c.1920. Composition doll. Moulded. Short hair. Opening/closing eyes (Stuck at half-closed). Hand knitted vest and knickers. Long, white cotten petticoat gathered into waist. Bottom edged with broderie anglaise frill. Dress long white cotton. Main part formed from white open-work cotten with the columns running vertically with a front central insetion of white open-work tape,bordered on each side with a similar tape frill. There is a wider but similar pattern frill running along the bottom. All gathered into waist band. Bodice of same materials. Knitted jacket-cream wool, fastened with 2 bows of white satin ribbon.

Circular, made with cream coloured card, covered with gold and white diagonally striped paper. Box held together with staples. Box base has plain card underside rather than the cream of the interior. White twisted cord handle. Lid is constructed of cream card with gold/white striped sides. Topside of lid has white background with design of a rose with the wording "Brights of Bristol".

Academic gown of black silk. It has a very small self lined yoke, concavely curved at the back. Dropping from this the back panel and sleeve heads are very finely finger pleated. The sleeves are extra long. they are of two piece construction and have bound openings at approximately underarm level. The gown has straight revers falling to the hem which are stitched back at the top. Excepting the yoke the robe is unlined. The sleeve seams are bound with wool tape and there is a loose band of folded silk tape running across the inside back yoke. Stitched upside down onto the back yoke is a machine embroidered makers label in black and yellow.

Painted paper folding fan. Paper leaf (reverse leaf of chicken skin) with painted and gilded decoration; sticks and guards carved, pierced and gilded. Obverse painted in gouache with pastoral landscape and figures in peasant and shepherdess costumes accompanied by lambs. Each end painted and gilded finely with scrolls, flowers, urns and birds. Reverse painted at centre with two girls in costume as shepherdess. Guards and sticks pierce and gilded finely with quatrefoils, trophies of armour and flowers. Pivot of mother of pearl and metal.

Obverse with a large cartouche of two classical figures in pastoral landscape with goat and sheep, all within a grey border with painted and gilded flowers and scrolls. Reverse of leaf painted with cream geso bearing the signature "Alsop Girousc a Paris". Sticks and guards of mother of pearl, carved, pierced painted and gilded. Sticks finely decorated with rococo scrolls and painted with flowers . Central cartouche of a female between two children in 18th C costumes, all backed with thinner mother of pearl. Two sticks refaced at lower end. Guard pierced and gilded with scrolls. Pivot of mother of pearl and metal.
