Social History (TC1571)
c1927 evening dress made from silver lame brocade of biege and black. Tunic style cut with three layered effect at the front (skirt) and two layer straight hanging back, waterfall drape on left side. Bodice has bar straps and the dress is sleeveless, with a square neckline at the front and scoop neckline at the back. The dress is embellished with a beaded applique flower shape on the right of the bodice at the front and on the left hip securing the waterfall draoe. The bodice decoration has long hanging strands of beads. The beads are silver spheres, diamante studs and white bugle beads. The dress fastens with hooks and eyes and press studs under the left arm, the lining fastens likewise. Shoulder to hem 114cm, shoulder to hem of drap 141cm.

Black and white postcard, being a reproduction of an engraving (?), titled "Old houses in front of the Mulberry Tree Tavern, Broad Street" along bottom edge, in black lettering. Scene depicted is a set of old timber-framed buildings on Broad Street. Two signs can be read, "J.W. Turpin, improved accr books" and below this "Parrys boot & shoe warehouse". Series no. 35 printed at top left corner. White borders. Postally unused.
