Brass Bombardon, 3 'perinet' valves.This instrument was owned and played by a Mr. Connett, a member of the Bristol Volunteers (information from donor). The term bombardon was first applied to a species of bass ophicleide with 12 keys brought out in the earth 1820s by Wenzel Rieal, of Vienna...later the name was adopted by makers everywhere for valved bass brass instruments in ED.

Length of boxwood, just over four feet long resembling a rule of measure: marked with regular divisions and the notes of a music scale (I.e. A, B, C, D, E, F and G) with sharp (#) signs/ Hole for suspension at one end, stamped 'Smith & Sons Bristol.' According to old label tied to this item, it was formerly used by A. Mickleburgh (Snr) circa 1885.
