Two maces, mounted on a wooden block with Bristol City coat of arms, plaque listing Speakers of Bristol Parliament and explanatory note. The metal mace, painted dark red and gold is part of the wrought ironwork from Brunel's 1840 Temple Meads Station, first used as a mace in Society's Silver Jubilee session 1848-9. Stone mace below it came from the 'older part' of the Palace of Westminster, used as a mace from 1938-41.
