Inside, the skirt has very wide seam allowances, at the waist opening this overlaps and fastens with four metal press studs and a hook and bar. The waistline is neatened and stiffened with black tape and petersham, the latter fastens at the waist opening with two hooks and eyes.

Woman's Red Cross uniform: navy blue, wool, waist length bottle dress jacket with long cuffed sleeves. The jacket has a revered collar and fastens at the centre front with four plastic buttons. Above the left pocket are five military ribbon decorations. On each shoulder there is a buttoned down printed strap. The jacket is unlines except for the waistband which is backed black twill woven cotton. On each sleeve head there are two machine embroidered badges - the red cross and the word 'British'.

British Red Cross Society: linen apron, part of the nurses' uniform. The apron is fitted in style, the skirt is in three panels with double stitched seams, the side panels have two darts. The bib is also darted and has a large applied Red Cross on the front. The apron has two straps (extended from the waistband) which fasten with two linen covered buttons. The bib has two tape tabs sewn onto the back at the top which allow it to be pinned to the dress unobtrusively.

British Red Cross Society: linen headdress worn as part of the nurses' uniform. The headdress is rectangular in shape and has a wide double thickness border. In the middle of one of the long edges is a small hand embroidered red cross.

British Red Cross Society: belt worn as part of the nurses' uniform. The belt is composed of navy blue Petersham tape and has a silver coloured plated metal clasp. The clasp has a satin finished top and clipped onto it is an enamelled circular badge with a white background and red cross. The clasp also has two clips on the back which allow it to clip onto a bar on the other end of the belt in order to fasten.

Hustings bell. The bell bowl is cast in white metal alloy, the surface is stippled or textured but has bands of plain polished metal. The handle is possibly of elm, it is turned and has an incised grip at the top. The handle is jointed to the bowl with a brass ring. The clapper is of iron which has been painted black. Tied around the handle joint is a length of mustard yellow coloured cotton seam binding.

Pair of spring fastening shoe buckles with cut steel rim and leather inserts. The buckles are rectangular with rounded corners, the rim has a geometrically styled symmetrical border decoration in cut steel. The whole is completely backed with a thin plate of steel, the space inside the rim is infilled with black leather. The chape is hinged at the top edge and has a spring fastening catch at the lower edge, all of steel.

In eighteenth century pastiche style and made of royal blue cotton velvet. They have a buttoned fly front fastening with six moulded black plastic buttons. There are four braces buttons at the front and two at the back. With button decoration at the knee band as well as a steel buckle. Lined with ivory coloured polyester satin.

White nylon lace jabot consisting of a self lined close fitting neck band with a double ended and pleated frill. The edges of the frills have deep border of white nylon machine made lace. The neckband is fastened at the back with two metal press studs.

Black, nylon velvet dress in straight style. The dress is collarless and has long straight sleeves and sewn onto the bodice is a vertical row of buttons. There is also one button on each sleeve close to the hem edge. The dress fastens with a zip at the back. Attached to the shoulders inside with brass safety pins is a strip of nylon ribbon with half of a press stud at each end (one ribbon on each shoulder).

Black, nylon velvet coat in straight unshaped style. The coat is collarless with round neckline and long straight sleeves. The front of the coat is fastened with two sets of two buttons which are linked by means of a woven black elastic cord which loops over the buttons on the left, the buttons are similar to those used on the matching dress

Black plastic imitating patent black leather with gold plated clasp. The bag is hinged and has gold coloured plating on the hinges and on the fastening clasp. There are two handles which are top stitched as is the edge of the bag. Inside the bag is lined with red rayon fabric and has a small mirror compartment on one side.
