Cast- iron letter plate for a front door. The flap is hinged vertically with the word 'Letters' similarly arranged. 'Art Nouveau' style decoration and 'hammered metal' finish to upper surface. Painted black. No.'1878' is cast on reverse (probably a foundry mould or model number - not the date) Two threaded sockets for fixing to door with bolts on reverse.
