: an oil painting on board, showing: a painted sketch the village of Cheddar, Somerset, with the prominent Lion Rock to the left in the distance; in the artist's diary (copied by Ellen Sharples into her own diary) for 1828, she records "[Sept. 9] Set off for Cheddar with Miss Shipperdson. Rocks very beautiful. [Sept 10] Began a view; rained more or less every day during the week we remained, had to sit in the wet painting during the intervals between the showers ... [Sept 29] Began an enlarged copy of Cheddar on panel."; for the "enlarged copy" of this work, mentioned in diary entry - see K1087
