: Edwardian bodice of cream cotton sateen, with square embroidered net panel at front and back, extending into high, boned neck. Long straight sleeves have a ruched silk chiffon overlay, with four brass hook and eye fittings at the wrist, and a lace ruffle. Back fastening with brass hooks and eyes. The whole bodice has an additional overlay of cream silk chiffon, edged with silk satin, fastening to the main garment with brass hooks and eyes. The square neck is deep to reveal the net panel in the underbodice, and there are pin tucks beneath. There are wide short sleeves with pin tucks at the front and back of the shoulders. A length of cotton tape is fixed to the overlay at the back of the waist. Worn by Elizabeth Ann Stephens for her wedding to Walter Sealey Davis in 1909. Originally there would have been a matching skirt.
