Description: From a collection of 18 mascots carried by WW1 soldiers. 15. African Bean carried for good luck by a man of the Royal West Surrey Regiment in the war. 1916 Large bean or seed, with wrinkled outer skin, black, and pale calyx attached to top. Drilled through for suspension, with short length of string.
