My interests lie in the discovery and experience of how objects and forms change over time and place. The kind of ambiguous, subtle changes that take place bring forth life and cultural charm. Due to our world moving in an increasingly materialist direction, the elements of time, space and religion are being redefined. The body and spirit wander aimlessly and they are subconsciously seeking something to rely on, searching for a home for the heart. Materialistic indulgence, the numbing of the spirit, ignoring one’s own heart - all of these realities should be re-examined based on a cultural soil that provides help during tough times. The main thread running through my work is a unique perspective on cultural uncertainty. An artist’s purpose is not only to propose a concept, but to use the artist’s own unique methods to express this concept and embody in his work things which people bury deep inside themselves. To help someone visualise his soul is to help find an answer to their inner confusion. ' Huang Chunmao, 2014
