A lightly-coloured drawing on paper, showing Bristol Bridge and St Nicholas Church as they appeared in 1823. This view was drawn from the upper floor window of a building on the other side of the floating harbour. The same view was drawn by Samuel Jackson the following year (M2176), and the point of view given for Jackson's version is the upper floor window of the Saving Bank Society building in Bridge Parade. Both Johnson and Jackson were commissioned by the Bristol antiquarian, George Weare Braikenridge, to draw this view. An unfinished pencil drawing (M55) shows an earlier attempt by Johnson.
