This intricate decorative piece was made using an Italian wine bottle, covered in cloth and beadwork. The bottle flower vase stands on a ring for stability, and both sit on a beaded cover. Made by the wife of a chief or Seyyid of the Beni-Amer people, Armine Wright admired it on a visit to their house. Under the rules of hospitality in the area, the Seyyid had to give the piece to Wright when he left. Wright was very embarrassed at his mistake but to refuse the gift would have been very rude to his host.
