: Grenadier Company coatee. Scarlet with blue facings. Collar, upright. On each front, two worked loops of blue silk, each with a small regimental button. Upper and front edges piped with white cloth. Cuffs, round, 3 inches wide. Piped at top with white cloth. Four blue silk worked loops in pairs on each cuff, each pair bearing a small gilded brass (silver on the front) regimental button. Cuff vent fastened with a small blue cloth- covered button with corresponding buttonhole. Back, plain. No tail pockets. At waist, on each tail, a horizontal three-pointed, false pocket flap piped with white cloth and bearing four crimson silk vertical worked loops in pairs, each with a large silver regimental button. On each tail, a pleat, let into which is a pocket. Half way down pleat, two large silver regimental buttons. Turnbacks of white cloth. Tail ornament of the following design: a silver wire embroidered grenade, with embroidered flames of red silk, silver wire and spangles. All upon a blue cloth ground. Two large silver regimental buttons at back centre waist. On each shoulder, a loop of scarlet cloth with small silver regimental button for attaching epaulettes (Td4845). Front double breasted. Ten large silver regimental buttons down each front in pairs of the following design: the arms and crest of the City of bristol, the shield being flanked by the letters BV. Lapels, blue with corresponding buttonholes. Two four buttonholes on each lapel have blue silk worked loops. Front, and lower edges piped with white cloth. Hook fastening at neck. Signs of wear; additions to the lining (at least once) at armpits (possibly for sweat problems). Unfinished hem.
