In 1945 Pasmore visited the Picasso and Matisse shows at the V&A and was inspired by their take on Modernism. He read enthusiastically about Cubism and the Bauhaus, becoming particularly taken with the work of Paul Klee, and in 1948 his style became decidedly Abstract. In 1964 Pasmore began working at the Kelpra studios in and embraced screen printing for the way it complemented his way of working with abstract heavy blocks of colour. Untitled is a screen print from the same year and the composition of the blue and green shapes to the left of the frame is repeated by Pasmore in other screen prints and paintings later in his career.
