: a bronze sculpture of a head, showing: the bristol-born socialist, trade union leader and politician Benjamin Tillett (1860-1943); Tillett was active in the Great London Dock Strike of 1889 and the Bristol Labour Uprisings of the same year; he was arrested in Bristol in 1892 for sedition and inciting violence on what beame known as 'Black Friday' (a Christmas lantern procession which became an illegal demontration); he was eventually elected as the Labour Party Member of Parliament for Salford North, 1917-1924, and 1929-1931
