The artist Kenneth Martin (1905-1984) was interested in the sensation of movement. With his series of kinetic mobiles, mostly made in brass and steel, he aimed to link the three-dimensional space with time. Linearity was important to their design, giving them a light and elegant form, which, whilst moving, create interesting shadows on the space behind.
