: Berlin woolwork sampler. Coloured wools on cotton canvas, selvedge at one short end, opposite end raw, long edges oversewn. Cross, straight, tent, Florentine stitches. Random sample patterns: stylised floral meander between lozenge borders, block of squares, stripe pattern, two squares containing Xs, large lozenge made up of crosses, scroll and florentine patterns, shaded strip; a separate fragment of yellow and purple woolwork tacked on. Strip probably cut from a larger piece.
