Many lived with the daily hope of hearing from their loved ones away fighting, and fear of receiving bad news. Embroidered postcards like these were brought or sent home to Bristol from France. The message on this one reads ?To Floss, with best wishes, from Stan?. TB3457 given by R. Hewlitt

: Composite paper / fabric postcard, with an embroidered design of purple flowers and two large shamrocks. The embroidered fabric front has a flap, in the form of an envelope. Inside is a small rectangle of card, with an embossed floral design and "To my dear sister" handwritten on it. An embossed paper edge of shamrocks and horse shoes to this postcard. Postally unused, although "To Floss, with best wishes, from Stan" has been pencilled on the reverse.
