Description: Black and white postcard, titled "Demonstration in 1848 to celebrate the success of the free port movement" along bottom edge of image, in black lettering. Postcard shows an engraving of the demonstration, with large crowds assembled, many holding banners (one reads "Bristol a free port") and some with what appear to be model ships on top of long poles. Series no. 381 printed at bottom left. Broad white border at bottom edge, slimmer white space along top edge. Postally unused.
