Model of tug John King

A 1:32 scale model of the tug John King. Tugs are small but powerful boats used to manoeuvre large ships. Steam tugs operated this service on the river approaches to Bristol from the 1840s until diesel tugs like the John King, launched in 1935, took over. You can see the real John King moored outside M Shed.
