Usherette's pinafore from the ABC Cinema, Henleaze (later renamed Orpheus Cinema), mid-1980s

Ushers and usherettes checked tickets before showing the audience to their seats with a torch beam. During the film, they would stand at the back and stop disruptive behaviour.
