Description: a framed colour drawing on paper, showing: a view of Wittenham Clumps at sunset, drawn during the harvest; Wittenham Clumps are small chalk hills with many small woodlands situated in the Thames valley, south of Oxford, where the artist's family used to visit for shooting parties each year in September; Paul Nash preferred to walk and paint, rather than shoot, which adds a poignancy to the work because it was painted a year before the outbreak of the First World War, where Nash served on the Western Front
