Plastic 'popper' beads

Three strings of plastic 'popper' beads, which could be pulled apart and put back together in different lengths and colour combinations. Sold in the Woolworths, broadmead shop in the late 1950s, and bought by Jan when she worked there as a teenager.

: String of pink plastic 'popper' beads. Bought from Woolworths on Broadmead in the late 1950s, costing around 2s. Popper beads were a big craze at this time and although they could be worn with the colours mixed up, the donor remembers mostly wearing them as a single colour string, knotted and worn to one side.
