Alfred James Blake was a Bristol Funeral Director. His collection includes funeral director's clothing, a feather plume, and Funeral Directors Association conference booklets. There's even some evening gloves worn by his wife Rhona to 1950s funeral director events. Apparently the social get-togethers for funeral directors were quite a raucous affair, not least because in their own communities they felt obliged to present a respectable front.
