Description: Photograph in sepia showing old view of Tower Lane on the left at the top of St.John's Steep on the site for 'Fry's' property. Handwritten date on back 1857 but cited wrong due to method of photographic reproduction, dress of woman in foreground; comic papers shown in shop front etc. Probably circa 1900. Picture reproduced by T.Protheroe, Wine Street, Bristol. The photograph is mounted on a board.
