: Wooden bust, large, of a man with beard and small topknot of hair, with facial scarification. Paper label stuck to base; 'One of a "series" of social figures from folk tales - "the Wise Elder". Carved out of ebony. Mtwara bought 1940 in S. Tanganyika'.
