When Blanche Wright gave birth to their first child, in Kenya, Wright was in Somalia, in Mogadishu, and a local man gave him this pair of sandals for his new daughter.

: Pair of child's sandals. Leather, with flat sole and stitched edge, 2 straps across with cream and black leather strips interlaced. White kid skin lining to straps. Given to Armine Wright upon the birth of his first child, Annabel, 1943, by a local man in Mogadishu. Still made and worn today according to women elders from Bristol's Somaliland community.
