Description: French Chassepot needle-fire military rifle, Model 1866. Round steel barrel with flattened breech. The breech with worn inscriptions and various Ordnance markings including, AC45837, EM, MA, and the date C1874. Bayonet mounting bar at muzzle stamped AC45837.Breech bolt marked C96702. Blade fore-sight and adjustable ramp rear-sight. Retained to the stock with 2 barrel bands with retaining springs. Walnut full stock with iron furniture comprising; butt plate, trigger guard and 2 barrel band, the rear with a sling loop. Iron cleaning rod.
