: Wanzl single shot breech-loading military rifle, Model 1866. Round steel barrel with octagonal breech, rifled with 4 grooves. Blade foresight and adjustable ramp rearsight. The breech stamped with various Ordnance markings including Werndl. Breech-loading action with hinged breech-block, the block pivoting upwards for loading and containing a firing pin and extractor, each component stamped with Armoury marks. Attached to the stock by 2 steel barrel bands and nose-cap, each with a spring retainer. Separate forward sling swivel. Wooden full-stock the left side of butt formed with a cheek-piece, the right side stamped with a cartouche containing Chinese characters. Furniture comprising steel butt-plate, trigger guard with rear sling swivel and flat sideplate. Side lock with hammer the plate stamped 859 (1859). Retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Steel cleaning rod.
