: Turkish miquelet rifle of typical form with heavy octagonal barrel held to the stock by 3 brass barrel bands. Wooden full stock with pentagonal form butt with hardwood butt plate inlaid with a brass motif, the whole stock profusely inlaid with small brass studs forming decorative patterns. The apertures of the trigger and sling holes the stock are inlaid with decorative bone plaques, the fore-stock with a bone muzzle cap. Stud or ball form trigger. Ramrod missing. Miquelet lock of typical Turkish form, the cock with a “winged” jaw screw, a bridle linking the cock and frizzen. Mainspring missing. 18/19th century. - Brian Godwin
