: fish hook

: Shell shank, turtleshell barb and coil of sinnet. Shell fish hook, the body of which (shell) is detached from the hook part (turtleshell). These 2 separate pieces are joined by thin twisted cord which is inserted into one or both holes in the hook (one at top, one at bottom) and then inserted into a hole at one end of the shell body. This thin cord continues and coils around a looping bundle of plaited sinnet (a dark shade).
