: Raphia cloth made of four rectangular pieces sewn together. All have a design of coloured stripes woven into their structure in shades of dyed brown and undyed raphia. The warp and weft are exposed at the edges creating a fringe. Old card reads - "in 5 pieces Ea8985-8989" Collected by Rev. Kenred Smith in Northern Democratic Republic of Congo when it was the Congo Free State and later Belgian Congo. He was primarily based at Bopoto (Upoto) Station, a Baptist Missionary Society post on the Upper River from the years 1896 - 1914.
