: Dish of porcelain decorated with red, orange and gilt enamels on underglaze blue. In the centre is a design of an orange flower in red outline with pointed petals swirling in an anti-clockwise direction, enclosed by a band of blue petals. The border is decorated with a floral scroll with four open orange chrysanthemum flowers and eight orange buds with gold leaves. The rim is decorated with swirls alternating in orange and gold. On the underside along the rim is a lace-like pattern in blue. Surrounding the footring are blue petals. Within the footring is a four-character mark in two lines which reads: ???? (Chinese: Chenghua Nian Zhi, Japanese: sei ka nensei) 'Chenghua period make'. A note left by the collector, Irene Finch (1918-2019), reads: 'Gold over red. 94/72'.
