: Dish of porcelain with a folate rim of eight barbed lobes with brown 'lip rouge' glaze (Japanese: fuchibeni ??) along the rim. Decorated in underglaze blue with a design of two deer in foreground beside two large rocks on which grow a Japanese banana plant and bush of flowers, and hills in the distance. The border is decorated with leafy branches with plum blossoms. The underside is decorated in underglaze blue with three bearded dragons punctuated by three precious jewels. On the base within a circle within the footring is a mark that reads: '???' enclosed in a square. There is a single spur mark left on the base. A note left by the collector, Irene Finch (1918-2019), reads: 'To Edinburgh. 17'.
