: coffin: animal remains: mummification bandage: 'Pseudo animal mummy' in a coffin shaped box. Indeterminate 'mummified bird or animal' with a plaster face and covered in resin. X-rays showed that it appears to contain no bones. Stuffed with mud. A plaster mask has been applied to the head and face depicting a stylistic human face. Painted eyes. A large incision has been made in the lower portion of the 'mummy' which shows the bandage layers. The innermost bandage appears to be wrapped lengthways, the rest are wrapped around the body. Various different bandage weaves and 8 types of linen. Housed in a glass-topped wooden coffin which has been covered inside and out with Egyptian motif wrapping paper (thought to be Victorian). Black wrapping paper with a design of white figures, flowers, birds, animals and other objects. One hook on the box for display, and one to secure it at the side.
