: cartonnage (mummy trappings): mummy-mask: Roman mummy portrait. A rectangular piece of wood (with the top corners cut off), with a portrait painted on one side. It has a pale blue-grey background with the head and neck of a man. The man has red-brown skin anad dark hair including a goatee and long thin sideburns. The bottom third of the painting is damaged. It is mounted on a board.
