: Bank note with bankruptcy stamp printed on both sides in black ink. On the obverse the Bristol High Cross is depicted on the left-hand side. There is a 'first dividend paid' stamp in the centre. The following is written on the note: No [K312] Bristol Tolzey Bank No [K312] I Promise to pay to [Joseph Rogers Esq] or Bearer on Demand Twenty Pounds, Value received the [1?] day of [April] 18[17] For Worrall, Pope & Edmonds. £Twenty. Ent.d [A.Pope Jnr] [J.Edmonds] On the reverse is a bankruptcy stamp dated July 11 1823. The paper is discoloured and is now a grey colour. It has been torn and has been repaired in the centre.
