Neck and lip painted with splodged pink/purple lustre, lustre squiggles between prints, line on handle and around foot. Three black transfer prints, overpainted in coloured enamels: on one side ' AN EAST VIEW of the NEW BRIDGE, SUNDIRLAND '; opposite, a trophy comprising Union Jack & French flags, cannon barrels, an [?]eagle, lion and laurel wreath with scrolled cartouche inscribed ' CRIMEA ' and mottos [above] ' MAY THEY EVER BE UNITED ', [below] ' VIVE L'EMPEREUR ', ' GOD SAVE THE QUEEN . '; below lip, oval flower frame with sailing ship at top surrounds legend, ' No 3663, // Presented to Sergt. Wm White // 53rd Regt. by his Brother // Henry on leaving the Regt // January 12th 1864. '

Relief-moulded with biblical figures of Samuel and Eli: two narrow and two wide Gothic arches: in the two wider, an elderly man seated by a table on which a jug and bowls, a young boy standing by his side; in narrow arch under lip, a standing turbaned male figure.
