Drawing of a seated female, ink on native paper + s. black & white. Buff paper. Ink outline of young female, head in profile facing right, left arm extended, left leg crossed over right. Wears earrings, necklace, armlets, sleeved bodice, skirt and tight trousers. Hair in chignon. Hair filled in black; face and outlines of left arm redrawn on white. This woman is drawn in profile, in the Mughal courtly tradition. Portraits of individual women from this period are rare. It was common for court artists to work in pairs, one drawing the outlines, the other filling in the colours.

Border: on lime-green ground, leaf scroll + 5-petalled mauve flowers between yellow and red guards. Devanagari inscribed in white.
