Obverse lithograph with rustic scene of courtly figures in 19th century costume; drawing, reading and conversing. Each end of leaf painted and gilded with bouquets of flowers and scrolls. Reverse painted and gilded with delicate flower sprays, a central cartouche bearing two birds. Sticks and guards decorated with scrolls, flowers, lovebirds and musical trophies. Central cartouche of a family picking flowers, figures against a shimmer of mother of pearl ground. Pivot of steel and brass, shaped and textured brass hanger. Lithograph painted at left "Im _ and oacomm" (Perhaps "Imhrime") part obscured by gilding.

Obverse machine embroidered in silk with basket of flowers and to the right an embroirdered bee. Sticks and guards vertivaly pireced and carved. Pivot and hanger of brass.

House Box” for holding a fan which was supplied by the manufacturers when the fan was purchased. Slight wedge shape with hinged lid. Made from stiff card and covered in white paper, embossed to resemble crocodile skin. Interior is padded and lined with cream coloured synthetic fabric. Two pieces of cream ribbon protrude from the hole in the lining at the bottom of the box which is used to tie the fan inside. In lid printed, label reads “DUVELLEROY 11 BOULd DE LA MADELEINE, ANCIENNEMONT PASSAGE DES PANORAMAS.
