Roy Hackett (1928 - 2022)

Community volunteer and civil rights activist

Roy made Bristol a better place to live. For over 40 years, he dedicated his time to local community associations and fighting injustices in the city. He was a key player in the successful Bristol Bus Boycott campaign of 1963, which led to racial equality and new laws, he also organized the first St Paul’s Carnival in 1967, now one of the largest events in the southwest.
