Kassam Ismail Majothi (1924-2002)
Founder of the Bristol Sweetmart (pictured 5th along, left to right)
I’m so proud of what my Dad achieved. A Ugandan refugee, he was the first person to sell spices and exotic foods in Bristol from the Sweetmart, a small shop he set up in 1978. His strong work ethic, integrity and kindness for others have greatly influenced my brothers and me. The Sweetmart continues to be a much-loved shop, deli and wholesaler now employing over 40 people.
