Don Cameron, MBE (1939 - )
Balloonist and aeronautical engineer
Don Cameron has made Bristol the home of hot air ballooning. He built the first modern balloon, ‘Bristol Belle’, with friends in 1967; 47 years later, Cameron Balloons is the world's largest ballooning manufacturer.
A passionate promoter of the sport, Don has broken many world records. He founded the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta in 1978, which now attracts over 500,000 visitors and is a highlight of the year.
